A & T staged the opening round of the Manchester League Senior Grand Prix series.  There was a low turn-out on a very dry and dusty track. Bury's Neil Howarth took the honours, unbeaten in his four races, to finish on 16 points.

GP scorers were: Neil Howarth (Bury) 16, Scott Jarman (Bury) 14, John Whiting (Bury) 14, Mike Hack (A & T) 13, Tom Doyle (Bury) 13, Damien Hack (A & T) 11, Rob Longworth (A & T) 10, John Nuttall (A & T) 8.

Astley & Tyldesley take on Leicester 'B' in a Midlands / North League Division 2 match at Gin Pit on Saturday. First race is at 2 pm. Spectators are always welcome at the Astley & Tyldesley Miners' Welfare Club, Meanley Road, Gin Pit, Astley.
