The Division 1 match, run in two groups, was hard fought throughout, with Bury emerging victors, narrowly ahead of Stockport and A & T. The home side's Polish duo were in excellent form, with Tomasz Szwajorek dropping just one point to team mate Darek Kurkowski in heat 3, whilst Kurkowski dropped just two points, to Szwajorek and to British Champion Terry Norman, in heat 11 of the 'A' match. Trevor Hulton also headed home Norman when finishing 2nd behind Bury's Paul Dyson in heat 7.
