Wed 6th Sept Manchester League Junior Individual Championships Astley & Tyldesley

Astley & Tyldesley hosted the Manchester League Junior Individual Championships, under the Gin Pit floodlights on Wednesday evening. Some excellent racing took place on a fast, grippy track, and a slick promotion saw 29 races completed in 1 hr.15 mins.

There were 19 entries for the U-13 Championships, and Bury's Declan O'Shea raced unbeaten to take the title. In a run-off for 2nd place, Stockport's Oliver Cator pulled off a fast gate from the outside to win from Bury's Ryan O'Shea. The U-16 and U-19 categories were combined, with the points subsequently adjusted for riders in each category. U-16 Chris Dyson of Bury was the best rider in the match, and he won the U-16 title, racing unbeaten, ahead of team mate Alex Collins, with Stockport's Daniel Harrison third. Stockport's Chris Eaton took the U-19 title, from Bury's Chris Parish, with third place rider Tom Doyle, of Bury, losing vital points when excluded for falling and bringing down the rest of the field. The match was well handled by Astley & Tyldesley's Mark Taylor.
