Sun 4th June Northern Fours - Round 3 Stockport

Astley & Tyldesley were in action at Stockport for the 3rd round of the Northern Fours League series on Sunday. Conditions were tricky on a fast but dry, dusty and slippery track in a match that saw plenty of falls. In a very close fought match, A & T and Sheffield battled it out for 1st place throughout the match, with Bury and Heckmondwike not far behind. Sheffield held a 2 points lead at the half way stage, but A & T took the lead in heat 10 after Sheffield's Radek Sieradski was excluded for riding Heckmondwike's James Carter off the track. A & T went into the last race 2 points up on Sheffield. There was a clash of riders immediately on leaving the start, and A & T were assured of victory when Sheffield's Pawel Kozlowski was excluded for knocking off A & T skipper Chris Finnigan.

This was an important win for A & T, as it puts then level on match points with Sheffield, but at the top of the table due to having scored more race points. However, there is still a long way to go, with five more rounds to take place. A & T gave a very controlled and disciplined performance, in what was a very competitive match.
